Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a group of compounds found in a wide variety of foods.
Vitamin E helps maintain healthy skin and eyes, and strengthen the body's natural defence against illness and infection (the immune system).
Sources of vitamin E: nuts, seeds, wheatgerm, plant oils (sunflower, olive oil, soya..)
The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA):
- for males and females ages 14 years and older is 15mg daily (or 22 international units, IU), including women who are pregnant,
- lactating women need slightly more at 19mg (28 IU) daily.
